4.3.2.2 Aircraft vibration test (C7). The flare shall be subjected to the aircraft
vibration test prescribed in Specification MIL-E-5272, Vibration Test Procedure XII,
at ambient temperature only. The flares shall be assembled to the vibration table
using SA Drawing 2522999 for mounting. Defective are flares failing to meet the
requirements of 3.3.2.2.
4.3.2.3 Temperature and humidity test (C8). The flare shall be subjected to one
14 day temperature and humditiy cycle prescribed in Test 105 of Standard MIL-STD-
331. Defective are flares failing to meet the requirements of 3.3.2.3.
4.3.2.4 Low temperature test (C9). The flare shall be conditioned in a suitable
chamber at a temperature of -65°F ± 5°F for a minimum period of 24 hours and shall
be static functioned while at that temperature. Defective are flares failing to meet
the requirements of 3.3.2.4.
4.3.2.5 Grouped data acceptance. Data obtained from requirements (b) and (c)
of the static functioning test shall be grouped for the 39 flares composed of the
following groups:
Thirteen (13) flares from the aircraft vibration
Group (a)
test of 4.3.2.2
Group (b)
Thirteen (13) flares from the temperature and
humidity test of 4.3.2.3
Thirteen (13) flares from the low tempera-
Group (c)
ture test of 4.3.2.4
Acceptance shall be as specified in Table III.
5.
PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1 Packaging.
5.1.1 Candles.
5.1.1.1 Level A. In addition to the following, Level A packaging shall be in
conformance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78 for Class B
Explosives.
5.1.1.1.1 Unit packaging. Each candle assembly shall be packaged in accordance
with Specification MIL-P-116, Method lA13. The cavities at both ends of the candle
shall be cushioned as required to prevent damage to the pressed composition. No
preservation required.
5.2 Packing.
5.2.1 Flares or Mk 45 Drogue Trays.
