5.2.1.1 Level A. In addition to the following, Level A packing shall be in con-
formance with the Code of Federal Regulation 49 CFR 71-78.
5.2.1.1.1 Two (2) flares shall be packed in accordance with PL 2127902, (see 6.2).
5.2.1.1.2 NO (2) Mk 45 drogue trays shall be packed in accordance with
PL 2127903, (see 6.2).

5.2,2 Candle assemblies.
5.2.2.1 Level A. In addition to the following, Level A packing shall be in accord-
ance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78.
5.2.2.1.1 Five candles, packaged as specified in 5.1.1.1.1 shall be packed in a
wood box in accordance with Specification PPP-13-585, PPP-B-591, or PPP-B-621.
5.3 Marking.
5.3.1 Special marking. Special marking for the shipping boxes shall be in accord-
ance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78 for Class B Explosives
(Special Fireworks).
5.3,2 Normal marking. In addition to the requirements of the contract or
order, shipping boxes shall be marked in accordance with Standard MIL-STS-129.
NOTES
6.
6.1 Intended use. The Flare, Aircraft, Parachute, Mk 45 Mod 0 and Mk 45 Air-
craft Parachute Flare and Drogue Tray are intended for use to illuminate a large area
sufficient y to permit reconnoitering, bombing or location of surface objects.
6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents shall specify:
Title, number and date of this specification,
a.
Quantity of flares or Mk 45 drogue trays being ordered,
b.
c.
Test facility where preproduction sample is to be shipped for
evaluation,
QE Laboratory coordinating surveillance,
d.
Data information required (see 6.3).
e.
f. When the manufacturer of the flare or Mk 45 drogue tray is manu-
facturing the Fuze, Flare, Mk 364 Mod 0 the test requirements of Specification AS
1179 may be waived if so desired.
